Free Ideas: Introduction.

I encourage entrepreneurs, investors, brand owners, good causes or business people to take these ideas and do what they want with them.

I'm aiming to operate this scheme on an honor system (if such a thing still exists!)

If you deem the ideas valuable, I'll leave any potential profit share to your good will and conscience.

Should someone take an idea and run with it, I'd invite them to contact me out of courtesy and also so I can post "taken" on the idea to discourage multiple usage.

Ultimately, I'd be delighted if any of the ideas came to life and made a positive difference to an individual or a business.  

This is an experiment, perhaps the beginnings of a new model agency (I like the name, “The Free Agent) or perhaps it's something that will be more trouble than it's worth.  We'll see.

IDEA 14: International Long Shot Day

What’s your Long Shot?  Ask out that out of your league hottie?  Go for the huge promotion?  Email that big shot for a gig? Launch your art career?

The Idea:  A simple website that collects people’s “Long Shot” dreams and notifies them to go for it on June 23rd, “International Long Shot Day.”

The site features a text field to enter the Long Shot idea and a field to enter email to receive the reminder message.

The Inspiration:  I had a colleague who used to randomly ring up high level business leaders who would normally be well beyond the reach of mere mortals. His cold calls were often rebuffed but on more than one occasion meetings and business was secured.  They were Long Shots but they cost nothing but time and were highly valuable.

I liked the idea that everyone should be encouraged to go for their Long Shot.  A focused “Long Shot Day” may inspire people and prompt action.

Brand Involvement and Monetization

The ideas doesn’t necessarily need either of these things, but as the Material Girl once said, “We are living in a material world” so…

Page sponsorship form any brand playing in the realm of “empowering people”, from sports brands to banks.  Perhaps a liquor brand would work too with a possible link to “Dutch Courage” and the word play around “shots”.  I’d rather keep it family friendly though.

Possibly extend the idea into an ad campaign.  

Maybe someone will love this idea and donate a load of cash?  It’s a long shot but it might just work :)
